Benefiting Organizations

Our focus is children’s health, education, and well-being. Through support of outstanding organizations that focus on children’s assessment, counseling, development, education, health, and nutrition, we hope to make a significant difference in West Michigan. This year, money raised at Rivertown Races will benefit six local organizations:
Ataxia Telangiectasia - (A.T. for short)
Ataxia Telangiectasia, (A.T. for short) is a rare genetic disease that attacks children, causing progressive loss of muscle control, immune system problems, and a high rate of cancer. A-T children are born perfectly healthy, but then have problems with their balance, muscle control, and immune systems. Children are often in wheelchairs by age 8. A-T research not only benefits children with A-T, but children who have immune problems, cancer, cystic fibrosis, and cerebral palsy

        Kids' Food Basket
Kids’ Food Basket, a non profit organization, is a force for "Attacking Childhood Hunger in greater Grand Rapids." Our mission is to ensure children in our community do not go to bed hungry. We began over nine years ago by serving 125 kids each school day through our Sack Supper program and now serve nearly 5,000 kids each day. Sack Suppers are evening meals that provide 1000 calories and five food groups—nutrition that’s critical to the development of kids’ brains and bodies

Starlight Ministries
Starlight’s purpose is to provide a safe Christian environment for children and adults to express their grief, be able to find ways of coping with their grief, and then find Hope within their grief. This is achieved by participants sharing feelings, experiences and memories with peers in a support group setting. The death may have been recent or long ago.
